The closest airport is Manchester Airport, from which there are direct trains to Huddersfield which take around one hour. Leeds Bradford Airport, also an hour from Huddersfield, has direct flights from numerous European airports. Both have frequent connections with the London airports.

Train

If you are flying into Manchester Airport, the quickest and easiest way to get to Huddersfield is by train. Trains depart from the airport. Some journeys are direct while others will require you to change at Manchester Piccadilly. The journey is usually around one hour.

If you are flying into Leeds Bradford Airport, the easiest way to get to Huddersfield is to take a bus from the airport into Leeds and then a train from Leeds Station to Huddersfield. Information on how to do this can be found here. The train journey from Leeds to Huddersfield is around half an hour.

If you are flying into one of the major London airports (Gatwick of Heathrow), you will need to take a train or tube to one of the London stations and then connect from there to Huddersfield. The journey from London to Huddersfield takes around three hours. If you are flying into Stansted Airport, it is not always necessary to take a train into London. Check the Trainline website for options.

From Huddersfield Railway Station, it is 8 minutes’ walk to the university campus.

Train tickets for all journeys in the UK can be booked in advance using the Trainline website, which also provides timetable information. Because train travel in the UK can be expensive (particularly if you don’t book in advance), it can also sometimes be worth splitting your journey and buying separate tickets for each stage (this doesn’t necessarily mean changing trains). Check the Splitmyfare website to find out more.

Car

Unfortunately, there are no parking spaces available at the university. There are, however, a number of pay and display car parks within easy walking distance of campus which you can see on the university car park map. Additionally, there is a car park on Colne Road (HD1 3AZ) that offers cheap all-day parking close to the university.
